MISSION STATEMENT

BABES FOR BREASTS (BFB) is a collective of female singer/songwriters taking on the human side of breast cancer one song at a time. Volunteering their voices and skills to raise awareness and funds, proceeds are donated to local and regional charities in each city, who are helping women and men who are living with breast cancer from diagnosis to remission and beyond.

A LITTLE HISTORY

In 2003 Ana Miura decided it was time for her to start making a difference in her community. With nothing more than a desire to help, she set out to run a fundraiser that would help unite the musical community and the health community.

Striving to create a connection between those female singer/songwriters and the women and men who have had their lives affected by breast cancer, Miura asked four other female singer/songwriters to join her in the first BABES FOR BREASTS benefit. The night raised $500 for Breast Cancer Action Ottawa.

Since 2003, Babes for Breasts has raised and donated tens of thousands of dollars for breast cancer causes in host cities. In January 2007 the 7-show, 6-day, 5-city tour raised over ten thousand dollars for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation; as well as in Montreal and New York City. In October 2007, BFB traveled through Alberta and southern Ontario. In 2008 The Babes embarked on their first cross Canada tour playing 20 shows in 26 days.

Every BABE has been deeply affected by the stories of audience members who have had personal experience with breast cancer, whether they are a survivor, family member or friend. They are the reason we continue to volunteer our time, raising funds and awareness.

Our BABES come from every corner of our great country. The mix of female singer/songwriters vary from tour to tour but have included: Ana Miura, Amanda Rheaume, Leela Gilday, Tara Holoway, Ann Vriend, Amy Campbell, Rhonda Stakich, NLX: Natasha Alexandra and many more...

THE SHOW

An intimate, unforgettable experience sharing music, stories, laughter and tears with some of Canada?s most talented upcoming female musicians. Performing in a song circle, the BABES bring their original songs and stories together on stage, taking the audience in to complete the circle.

OUR GOAL

Our goal for 2009 is putting The Babes back out on the road across Canada during the months of September and October, raising over $100,000 for breast cancer related causes in the 14 cities in which we will perform!
